Juneteenth 2010 Honors Dr. Ted Parrish
Sponsored by a coalition of community organizations, this year’s event is dedicated to Dr. Ted Parrish, who was severely injured in a recent fall from a ladder.
Dr. Parrish, an Associate Professor in the Department of Health Education at North Carolina Central University, is a long-time community activist.
Just the tip of the iceberg of his involvements includes:
immediate past president of Pine Knolls Community Center,
16 years on the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board,
instrumental in bringing a Juneteenth commemoration to Chapel Hill, and
the driving force behind the soon-to-be-realized quest to bring a Boys and Girls Club to our area.
We invite all – individuals, businesses, candidates, public officials, churches, community groups and organizations – in honoring Dr. Ted Parrish and in commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States.
